Reading Comprehension Quiz
Simple Past Tense
The simple past tense is used to describe actions that happened at a specific time in the past. It is often used with time expressions such as yesterday, last week, two days ago, etc.
In the simple past tense, regular verbs end in -ed (e.g., played, walked), while irregular verbs change in different ways (e.g., ate, went, saw).
For example:
- Regular verb: "I played soccer yesterday."
- Irregular verb: "She went to the market last week."
The simple past tense is formed by adding -ed to regular verbs. Irregular verbs, however, need to be memorized because they do not follow a specific rule.
