Possessive Nouns
Possessive nouns show ownership or belonging. They are formed by adding an apostrophe and "s" ('s) to a singular noun or just an apostrophe (') to plural nouns that already end in "s".
Examples:
- John’s book: The book belongs to John.
- The dog’s tail: The tail belongs to the dog.
- The teachers’ desks: The desks belong to the teachers (more than one teacher).
Rules:
- If the noun is singular, add **’s**: John’s car, the cat’s toy.
- If the noun is plural and ends in **s**, just add **’**: the teachers’ room, the boys’ shoes.
Now, let’s test your understanding of possessive nouns!
