Math Problem Solving Quiz
Perform Multi-Digit Addition and Subtraction
In this lesson, we will focus on performing **multi-digit addition** and **subtraction**. These operations are essential for solving everyday math problems and understanding larger numbers.
Multi-Digit Addition
When adding multi-digit numbers, line up the digits according to their place values (ones, tens, hundreds, etc.). Start from the rightmost column (ones place) and move left, carrying over if necessary.
Example:
Adding 567 + 384:
567 + 384 ------ 951
Multi-Digit Subtraction
For subtraction, line up the digits by place value as well. Start from the rightmost column and subtract. If the digit in the top number is smaller than the digit in the bottom number, you may need to borrow from the next column.
Example:
Subtracting 763 - 489:
763 - 489 ------ 274
Now, let’s test your skills with multi-digit addition and subtraction!
