Measure and Draw Angles Using a Protractor
Learn How to Use a Protractor
A protractor is a tool used to measure and draw angles. It usually has two sets of numbers — one going from 0° to 180° (outside scale) and another from 180° to 0° (inside scale).
To measure an angle:
- Place the center hole of the protractor at the angle's vertex.
- Align one side of the angle with the zero line on the protractor.
- Read the number where the other side crosses the protractor scale.
To draw an angle, do the steps in reverse — start with one line, measure using the protractor, then mark and connect the second line.
