What are Clauses and Phrases?
Clause: A clause is a group of words that has both a subject and a verb. A clause can be independent or dependent.
Independent Clause: Can stand alone as a complete sentence. Example: "I went to the store."
Dependent Clause: Cannot stand alone and needs an independent clause to form a complete sentence. Example: "Although I was tired."
Phrase: A phrase is a group of words that does not have both a subject and a verb. It can’t stand alone as a complete thought. Example: "In the morning," "Under the table," "After the meeting."
